Leadership

Last night was our last open gym. We start captains practice next week. The guys will get a chance to lift, shoot and play together a little bit before the season. The coaches aren't involved but it gives our captains a chance to be leaders and create a little momentum going into the season. These practices aren't mandatory but an opportunity to improve before the season starts. They start things off next Monday at 5:45 in the weight room.

We have four solid captains this year.

David McVeety:

David has improved more than anyone since my first day as head coach. He works extremely hard to get better during the off season and it has paid off.

Evan McMillan:

Evan is a great all around athlete and has played every position for us at some point. He's been playing at the Varsity level since 8th grade and will be the all time scoring & rebound leader at SPA.

Harry Whitaker:

Harry has improved and committed himself to the program over the last year. I named him a captain at the end of the summer because he helped organize and lead the summer team so well this past year.

Santano Rosario:

San was our MVP last year and does a great job leading the team on the court. He's been running the show since freshman year and does a great job creating for him and his teammates. I'm extremely hard on my Point Guards and he handles that pressure very well.

As senior captains I will look to these guys to be leaders on and off the court. These four with the help of the other seniors are the back bone of our program. The seniors last year (Joe Stanoch/David Tisel/Crocket King) did a great job getting the program off to a solid start. It's up to this years senior class to continue that legacy. So far they've done a great job!
