We had a great first three days of practice. A total of 31 guys ( 7 freshman, 11 sophomores, 2 juniors and 11 seniors ) came out for the team. We spent the first three days evaluating and deciding what role each player will have to start the season. The teams are now set and we are ready to go. Expectations are high for all three teams and I know we can be successful if we play play intense spartan defense.
Our first Varsity scrimmage is on Friday vs. Highland Park @ SPA (4:30 pm). The C team and JV team will scrimmage each other at the same time on the back court. Highland Park will be a good challenge for us to start the season. They will test our defense with their quickness and ability to drive to the basket. Coach Portis has been at Highland for a long time and always puts a competitive team on the court.
