We had a very positive outcome this past weekend. We played without our starting point guard Santano Rosario because of injury in both games. The guys couldn't have responded better to the challenge.
We beat St. Agnes 54-31 on Friday night. The guys played inspired defense and we rebounded as a team on both ends of the court. We had trouble holding on to the ball at times but made up for it with hustle. We did an awesome job frustrating them and every shot they took was a contested outside jumper. I was very impressed with our guys focus and determination. Harry Whitaker play a solid game scoring 19 and grabbing 14 rebounds. It's no surprise that when Harry plays well on both ends of the court we usually have a positive outcome.
We got our 2nd win of the weekend vs Blake Saturday night 52-40. Honestly we looked tired and slow at times but the guys fought through it and had great determination. We didn't let missed shots dictate how we played defensively and again forced Blake to take a lot of outside contested shots. Nathan Johnson lead us with his best game of season. Nathan contributes for us in a lot of different ways and it was nice to see some shots go in for him. He had 12 pts and 5 rebs vs Blake. Spencer Egly also played extremely well for us replacing Santano. He didn't try to do to much, hit open shots, made the easy play and played solid defense. Pretty impressive for a Freshman.
Don't worry San, your job will be waiting for you when you're healthy! :-)
We play St. Bernards Tuesday and MPA Friday at home. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going in a positive direction.
