Minnehaha Academy- We lost to Minnehaha Academy Friday night 63-36. We didn't play well on either side of the ball and let bad offense effect our defensive intensity. We had a sub par week of practice which resulted in a sub par performance on the court. Sam Dicke lead us with 14 pts and 11 rebs coming off a sprained ankle. Andrew Bullard had a good game with 10 pts and 3 rebs. One of the biggest challenges at SPA is battling the rigor of school work, gym space and the other planned activities during the season. Our practices where effected by attendance and distractions which made it hard to be cohesive and consistent on the court. I have to do a better job fighting through those obstacles to make sure we are prepared every game.
On the other hand our Coaches vs Cancer event went very well. Our basketball program/school raised a little over $1200 for the American Cancer Society Friday night. The parents did a great job running the event, lead by Melissa Porter. I appreciate the support from the families that helped and look forward to doing this again next year...... hopefully with a better result on the court.
West Lutheran- We lost to West Lutheran 57-41 last night. I thought we came out with good energy and jumped on them early. Unfortunately we didn't sustain that intensity throughout the game and had some major mental lapses defensively. Once we got down we never made a significant run. I have to admit the only thing that gets under my skin when it comes to officials is inconsistency. I have never seen two officials be more inconsistent in my career. I'm proud of my guys for staying composed and not talking to the officials even though they were extremely frustrated. Sam Dicke had 16 and 9 and Spencer Egly chipped in with 12 pts and 6 rebs.
