We lost last night to Henry Sibley 66-48, not due to lack of effort. I told the guys before the game, "if they hit their 3 pointers we're gonna be in trouble" They ended up with 9 of them and we were in trouble. We held 7 foot Jake Kruesser to 2 points but didn't have the man power to take the perimeter away as well. Defensively we actually did a decent job but couldn't take care of the ball on offense. Bottomline, Henry Sibley is just a more talented team than we are. The guys did what I asked defensively and took 4 charges and dove on the floor for loose balls at least 7 times. That stuff will payoff later in the season if we continue to work that hard. David McVeety lead us with 14 pts, 3 rebs, 2 stls and 0 TO.
I've had a few people ask why I would schedule one of the top teams in AAAA. To be one of the best programs in the state you have to challenge and measure yourself against the best. I knew this would be a tough game when I scheduled it but I know it helped prepare us better for the Tri-Metro than playing a smaller school that might have given us an easy win.
We play Maranatha tonight @ 7:30. I will post if the game gets canceled due to weather as soon as I hear something.
