We got a huge win Saturday night 51-48 vs. Concordia Academy. If somebody who wasn't there picked up a paper it wouldn't look like anything more than just a close game. The real story is that it was the hardest I've ever seen a group of guys play in my entire life. Evan McMillan did not play, Sam Dicke was in China, Calvin O'Keefe was gone and Nathan Johnson missed almost all of the second half with an injury after playing a brilliant first half. That is 37% of our teams scoring and about 43% of our rebounding out and not available. A lot of teams would have used that as an excuse, but they wouldn't give up and they never stopped believing in each other. Everyone who stepped on the court played with extreme focus and Passion. The size difference at times was laughable and I wondered how we would ever get a rebound when facing 6'9", 6'6" and 6'6". The guys never backed down! David McVeey stepped up with 10 huge rebounds and 4 steals, showing everyone he's more than just a 3 point shooter. Harry Whitaker played the best defense of his career vs a very good big man. Spencer Egly carried us for stretch in the second half scoring 10 of his 14. Santano Rosario was cold as ice hitting 7 or 8 free throws to win the game for us.
I was just glad to be apart of a special effort like that, thanks guys!
